UNGA-DISEC

Overview

DISEC is the first of the UN General Assembly's six main committees, open to all 193 Member States, and is dedicated to disarmament and international security. It addresses the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, biological, and conventional weapons, working closely with the UN Disarmament Commission and the Conference on Disarmament. Increasingly, it also tackles emerging threats such as cyber warfare, autonomous weapons, and the militarisation of outer space. The committee promotes confidence-building measures and cooperative security frameworks among nations. Delegates will negotiate solutions to some of the world's most consequential security challenges.
